Opening of The Village building at Bryndwr: The church service opening will be 6 August at 3 p.m. We would appreciate your help in bringing a plate of finger food, if possible.
Community opening for the new Bryndwr building: This will be held on Wednesday 9 August at 5.30 p.m. Items by children from Burnside Primary School and a short ceremony will precede a shared meal. What we need are people from The Village prepared to bring finger food, offer hospitality and chat to whoever is there. Part of the event is acknowledging that it has been almost 20 years since the Community Centre was established at St Stephen’s in Bryndwr and the way that the building represents a major milestone in the aspirations of that vision.
Clothing shop: The refurbished clothing shop will reopen on Saturday 12 August in its new location at the street end of the hall (previously the offices).
Pecking Order: St Andrew’s Amberley are having a showing of this locally made movie, on Monday 14 August at 8 p.m. in the Rangiora Town Hall Cinemas. The film maker will be present and there will be an opportunity to meet him. Cost $25.00. If you are interested, contact Anne Stewart – car pooling will be available.
Rest home living: If you are giving any thought to moving to retirement village living, there is a free community seminar at the Hornby Working Men’s Club, 17 Carmen Road, on Wednesday 30 August at 10.30 a.m. This is offered by an independent agency and is designed to answer any questions in a safe and informative environment. If you are interested, contact Ellen McCrae or Anne Stewart.
Cheese rolls: If you have run out of cheese rolls, there will be an opportunity to replenish your stock. These will be made on Saturday morning 19 August at Bryndwr, ready for collection then or on Sunday 20 August. Orders can be left on the clipboards in the morning tea area after the service, or at the Bryndwr office.
Games night: This is planned for Friday 18 August, 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., at the Bryndwr site. The evening will begin with a pizza tea at 6 p.m., followed by a variety of games. Bring something to drink and some friends. The evening will finish with coffee and cake. A koha is invited to cover costs. For catering purposes, please indicate on the clipboard if you intend coming or contact Kathleen Anderson or Ann Hudson.
Adapted Yoga/Pilates: Available at Bryndwr, at different times during the week. For more information, contact Rebecca at 027 6908993, email email@example.com, or go to www.adaptedyogaandpilates.com.

Women’s fellowship: Meeting on 19 August at 12.30 p.m. at Bryndwr. All are welcome for soup and rolls for lunch, with tea, coffee and something sweet to follow. Share a funny story. Love to see you there.
Bread of Heaven/Daily Bread: Spend a day with Sara Miles, San Francisco author, founder and director of The Food Pantry on Wednesday 20 September, 10 a.m. to 3.15 p.m., at the Bryndwr building. Cost: $60 (includes lunch, pay on day or on invoice). To register, email Claire Bonner at firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 p.m. on Friday 15 September.
