Easter eggs for Pillars: As we have done in previous years, this year we are collecting Easter eggs to be sent to Pillars who distribute them to the families of prisoners.
On any given day an estimated 20,000 children have a parent in prison in New Zealand. Without the right support these children are over nine times more likely than other kiwi kids to end up in prison as adults. Children of prisoners are amongst some of the most vulnerable children in our community.
They are in a situation they didn’t choose, yet they face a sentence of their own. They become the invisible victims of crime and can become socially isolated and deprived. Eggs can be brought to church up to and including Palm Sunday, March 25th, or left at either Bryndwr or Papanui office.
What seems like such a small thing for us is so appreciated by these often forgotten families and we thank you for your continued support of this project.
Clothing Shop: The Clothing shop at Bryndwr will be open 3 to 6pm on Fridays for a trial period. We are very short of helpers so if you could help out one Friday a month it would be much appreciated. Please let Janice Cundall or Adrienne Rowe know, if you are able to help.
Womens’ Fellowship: Will meet on 15 March at 7.30pm at Olwyn Cramond’s home. The speaker is Joyce Jenkins who will talk about ‘The life of a wife in the British Army’. All are welcome to attend.
Indoor Bowls @ Bryndwr: The Village Bowling Club starts the new bowls season on March 19th at Bryndwr. New players will be most welcome and tuition can be given if you have never played before. It is a very social group and only mildly competitive. Please wear soft soled shoes (eg sneakers) and be there at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. Any queries please contact Mitch Mitchell or Janice Cundall.
The Creative Nest is open on Tuesday mornings. Pop in any time from 10am. Enquiries to Margaret.
