  • Adolescence is a time of transition from childhood to adulthood that involves intellectual, physical, social, emotional and hormonal changes
  • The important role of parents and other adults in providing guidance and support through this transition
  • The increased importance of peers
  • Positive and negative aspects of risk-taking
    • Recognising and enhancing adolescents’ strengths
    • Changes in sleep patterns
    • Exploring the potential influence of alcohol use
    • Benefits and risks associated with social media use

The presenter is Jim Sole. He has been a police officer for 27 years and a qualified Youth Aid Officer. His focus is on the impact of family violence on children.  The cost of this event is $10 per person, which includes supper. To book please email: stmarks.communityconversations@gmail.com

Biscuits Please:  Every two years The Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa N.Z. has a General Assembly. This year, in October the Assembly is being held in Christchurch. We have been asked to provide home-made biscuits for morning and afternoon tea. I am hoping that you wonderful people are willing to help with this. If you are, please sign the clipboard and take a snaplock bag (or bags). It seems very early for an October deadline but I thought some of you may be winter-time bakers – and therefore wish to freeze the biscuits. (If you put a dozen in each bag that would be wonderful).  Please contact me if you have any queries, Lesley Compton.
