The Creative Nest Exhibition: We are launching this exhibition today. The display will be open at our Papanui building 10am-4pm, Mon-Fri for three weeks. The exhibition tells the story of The Nest but also invites you into an engagement with your own creative possibilities. A koha donation towards costs would be appreciated. Please see this as an opportunity to take a friend along, it is a great story!
Sunday 7 October: The PCANZ General Assembly is being held at St Andrew’s College this year. The final service is in the Chapel at 11.15am on Sunday 7 October. Because the Assembly will need set-up time the Chapel will not be available for The Village that day. St Luke’s Christchurch North have invited those at The Village who wish to attend a 10am service to join them, in a service led by Rev Phil Wall. Alternatively, those wishing to join the Assembly for the service at StAC at 11.15am will be most welcome.
General Assembly – 3-7 October – in Christchurch. The Opening Service will be held at St Andrew’s College on Wednesday 3rd October at 7pm, and is open to everyone. People are invited to gather for the opening powhiri at 6.45pm, and everyone is welcome to attend. The incoming Moderator, Rev Fakaofo Kaio, will be installed during the service.
Evening programmes open to the wider church are: Thursday 4th October at the StAC Chapel at 7.30pm – “Building a Platform for Hope” A series of stories about re-building churches and launching new initiatives over the past few years in Alpine Presbytery. Stories will include actual church re-builds post-earthquake and some reorganised churches and some new church-plants (including The Village!).
Saturday 5th October at St Andrew’s College Chapel at 7.30pm – “Going Deeper – Rising Stronger” A TED Talk / Panel discussion about making changes to the culture of our churches so that we can set a new direction in our relationship with God and each other. Instead of talking about the latest programme or idea to ‘fix’ the church we will ask our key speakers to take us deeper and look at what may help us make a more lasting difference.
Speakers include: Pastor Amy Page-Whiting, Rev Gary Mauga, Bishop Paul Martin SM. Please note – a koha will be received to bless our keynote speakers.
The Village Annual Meeting 2018: Will be held on Sunday 28 October at The Village Bryndwr after worship at St Andrew’s College. This will also be Phil’s last Sunday with us so there will be a shared lunch following the meeting.

Biketober: Pedal to prayer: October is bike month, better known as ‘Biketober’. The weekend of 11-14 October is ‘pedal to prayer’ weekend. One suggestion is that those who can bike to church, do so on Sunday 14 October. If you need any help with this, talk to Megan Blakie.

The Village Camp 2018: Will be at Raincliff (South Canterbury) on Show weekend, 16-18 November. There is plenty of room and unless we get huge numbers there should be no need to share rooms.
