Women’s Fellowship Lunch, Saturday 11th May at 12.30: Keren has kindly offered to host this month’s gathering with a pot luck lunch at her house in Burnside. All welcome but please RSVP to Keren or Catherine. If transport is required please contact Catherine.
Papanui Lilliput Library opening: You are invited to the opening of the Papanui Lilliput Library on Sunday 19th May at 3pm at The Village Papanui. Come along and help us celebrate the installation of this miniature library for our Papanui neighbourhood. Afternoon tea to follow.
Cheese Rolls: We are taking orders for cheese rolls which will be made on Saturday 25th May, $12 dozen or $6 half dozen. Please place your order on the list at the door, and if you would like to be part of the team making them, we would appreciate that very much.
The rolls can be collected from the Bryndwr building between 11am and 12 on the 25th, or else from StAC on Sunday 26th after the service. Order forms will also be at both Papanui & Bryndwr church offices. Once again, we offer a $10 voucher to whoever places the largest order. Stock up for winter lunches or snacks! Any queries to Kath Newton or Ann Hudson.
Advance notice, “Keep the date/s”: We would like to get Parish Visitors together and offer two dates, hoping that one of these will suit you. Either Thursday May 30th or Wednesday June 5th. Venue to be advised. We haven’t met together for some time and think the opportunity to hear from you and to discuss this important aspect of our church life is valuable. Please note the date that suits you best.
Parish Fund-Raising Lunch – Sunday June 9th after church. Venue, Papanui building. Cost $20 (tickets available soon). Our High Tea last year was a happy occasion and we are hoping that this lunch will provide the same opportunity for fun and friendship. Please “keep the date free”.
Receipts: End of year Tax Receipts are now available. Please collect after Church today.
Anne and Martin are now into the second chapter in their adventure – embarking on focused study time located at Cambridge. Martin is still posting updates. Don’t forget you can find these at www.marttherev.com if you would like to follow the trip.
Old beads/necklaces for Canbead: Do you have any old beads or necklaces you no longer need? I am collecting these for CanBead, a branch of CanInspire, a charitable trust. The following is taken from their website:
“CanBead was started to give people experiencing illness, trauma or loss a sense of purpose and fun. We hold free workshops, where we give CanBead Kits and show others how to create jewellery. Our lovely volunteers help break up donated necklaces, assemble the kits and assist at the workshops. CanBead Kits are funded from financial donations, grants and from thousands of donated beads.”
You can get these to me anytime, or I could collect them if you prefer. Janice Cundall.
Preserving Project: Linda Cowan is looking for canning/preserving jars (or washed out jam jars) for a gift project for Burnside Primary staff. If you have any spare glass jars with metal lids, please bring them on a Sunday and place them in with the food offering. Alternatively, jars can be left at either the Bryndwr or Papanui offices. Many Thanks!
The Creative Nest: On Friday 10th May at 7:30pm there will be a writing workshop at the Nest. The guest facilitator will be author Jane Hole. There will also be time for participants to share ideas and questions re the writing process, including themes, creating writing clusters, self-publishing. Anyone interested in writing is welcome. A small koha would be appreciated.
On Tuesday May 14th (start time 10.30am) there will be a mini workshop making gift boxes suitable for chocolate slabs, diaries or address books as well as other gift boxes. The usual drop in and have a go activities will run concurrently from 10:00am.
Please let Tracey know if you are interested in attending either of these workshops. Phone the office 3526 197 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
