Papanui Lilliput Library opening 3pm 19 May: You are invited to the opening of the Papanui Lilliput Library at 3pm at The Village Papanui. Come along and help us celebrate the installation of this miniature library for our Papanui neighbourhood. Afternoon tea to follow.
Cheese Rolls: This is the last day to place your order, and we ask you to note it on the forms at back of church this morning. The rolls will be available for you between 11am and 12 noon next Saturday at the Bryndwr hall, or here on Sunday for you to collect. For those who have offered to help with the making, can you please be at the hall by 9am on Saturday. Please bring an apron, head covers and gloves will be provided.

We would like to get Parish Visitors together, on Wednesday June 5th at 7pm in the lounge at Papanui. We haven’t met together for some time and think the opportunity to hear from you and to discuss this important aspect of our church life is valuable.
Parish Fund-Raising Lunch – Sunday June 9th after church. Venue, Papanui building. Cost $20 (tickets available soon). Our High Tea last year was a happy occasion and we are hoping that this lunch will provide the same opportunity for fun and friendship. Please “keep the date free”.

Male-only God? Exploratory session on the feminine aspects of the Divine: Sunday 26th May, 4pm-5pm. Koha. Women and men are welcome to join this 1-hour exploratory session that invites us to expand our concept of and language about God. Session hosted by Megan Blakie, Bridie Boyd and Kathryn Fee and we welcome anyone from the Christian tradition, whether churched, on the fringes, or post-church. There will be time for prayer and reflection, as well as discussion. The Village Presbyterian Community Centre (lounge), cnr Papanui Rd and Frank Street.
Cleaner/Driver required: A person is required for 7-9 hours per week for household duties and driving to appointments, shopping etc. The hours are paid for by the Ministry of Health, on behalf of the client, a young woman who lives in the Redwood area. The Village Market at Bryndwr on 8th June: The June Market day will be on the 8th June as the first Saturday in June is Queens Birthday weekend. If anybody has tidy goods to be sold at the market please leave them at Bryndwr or contact me to arrange pickup. Thank you, Andrew Souness.
Book Launch for Joy Kingsbury-Aitken: Joy’s book “Prayers for Southern Seasons: Poems and prayers for Christian worship and devotions” is being published by Philip Garside Publishing Ltd. It is a collection of prayers and poems crafted over the years as she has led services in many different congregations. Table Talk are hosting the book launch at The Village Papanui on Sunday 19th May at 6pm. A potluck finger food meal to start, followed by Joy introducing the book and reading some extracts. Please come along (with a plate!) to celebrate this occasion with Joy.
Copies of the book will be sold for $25, with $5 going to The Village (if purchased by a Village member).
