Youth Group ‘Baked Goods sale’: Our Youth Group are fundraising for Easter Camp, and invite you to support them by purchasing baked goods after the 10am service at St Andrew’s College Chapel on Sunday 22nd March.
Easter Eggs for Pillars: As we have done in previous years, we are collecting Easter eggs to be sent to Pillars who distribute them to the families of prisoners.
‘On any given day more than 23,000 children are affected by having a parent in prison in New Zealand. Without the right support, these children are over nine times more likely than other kiwi kids to end up in prison as adults. Children of prisoners are among some of the most vulnerable children in our community. They are in a situation they didn’t choose, yet they face a sentence of their own. They become the invisible victims of crime and can become socially isolated and deprived. They need our support to live positive lives.’
What seems like such a small thing for us is so appreciated by these often-forgotten families and we thank you for your continued support of this project. Eggs can be brought to church up to and including Sunday 5th April, or left in the boxes at the Bryndwr or Papanui offices. Thank you!!
Chess at Burnside Primary School: Mrs Wray, one of the teachers at Burnside Primary School, is keen to start a chess club. She is looking for chess enthusiasts who might be able to spend one lunchtime (12.40 – 1.10pm) each week helping children to play chess. If you are interested either text Mrs Wray (contact office for number) or contact Linda Cowan.
Food Parcels and Hygiene Packs: Again, a big thank you to all who contribute items for Burnside Primary School. Currently the most needed items are: Canned spaghetti and baked beans, canned vegetables (corn, tomatoes) and canned fruit, pasta, rice, canned tuna fish, breakfast cereal, toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, shampoo and dishwashing liquid. Thank you for your continued support.
Relieving readers needed: We need a few people who can step in when regular Burnside Primary school reading helpers are ill or away. Currently, we have people helping with reading at Burnside from 9:15 – 10:15am on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you could assist at any of those times, please contact Linda Cowan.
A Congregational Meeting: will be held after the 10am service at StAC on Sunday 22 March to vote on the proposal that the parish of Christchurch North (St Luke’s) incorporate into The Village.
If anyone has any more questions on the proposal please speak with Dan or one of the team.
