The Village Prayer Team: If you or someone you know would benefit from having some prayer support then please feel free to send your requests to email@example.com and the team will spring into action. (You can be assured of confidentiality). There is also a box for you to pop any requests in, available on Sundays at our 10am service.
The Village Church on Facebook: For those who use Facebook we would appreciate you visiting our page and ‘clicking like’ https://www.facebook.com/thevillagechch/
Our site is being updated regularly as our groups resume meeting. It’s a good way for us to connect with people in the community who may want to know more about what happens in our buildings.
Sunday Roster: We are very thankful to those who are able to offer themselves for the various ministries during our Sunday Worship.
A reminder that Andrew will be compiling the August / September roster soon and would appreciate knowing if you are going to be away any of the weekend/s during that time. Please email or phone Tracey at our Papanui office, by Monday 22nd). Thank you.
‘All the Questions’: Dan would love to hear from anyone who is interested in following up ‘all the questions’ with a forum to discuss these further. You may have your own questions which have emerged during lockdown, around what church is about, or something may have been sparked by Dan’s list. Whichever it is get in touch with him.
An update from our Parish Council:
The Parish Council held their June meeting in person for the first time since March. It was great to be together again.
Our quarterly review of the Mission Plan took place this month. Reviewing and updating this regularly allows the parish council to ensure that we are meeting the needs of those in our parish and within our community, and to consider future growth.
There is ongoing maintenance to the church buildings overseen by Donald M. and his team. A building Warrant of Fitness has been completed at Bryndwr and maintenance work is being completed.
As we are now in Level 1 our buildings are open and beginning to hum again. It’s great to have Deirdre and Tracey back in the offices for their usual hours. While not all activities are back to normal it is likely that many will be up and running again by Term 3. The Lilliput Libraries and Clothing Shop are running again providing wonderful services to the community.
We want to particularly thank Frances C. for her great work putting together a document with COVID-19 protocols for the church. This is part of our Health and Safety requirements and Frances has done a wonderful job keeping the document up to date through all the Level changes. It is of such a high standard that it is being used by several other churches as well!
We have set a date for our Annual General Meeting as 18th October 2020. It will take place as usual after the service.
December rental enquiry: We have received advance notice of a mother and 16-year-old daughter who will be looking for a one, or two bedroom granny flat / apartment / house to rent from mid-December. Contact Tracey at Papanui for details.
