The Village Prayer Team:            If you or someone you know would benefit from having some prayer support then please feel free to send your requests to and the team will spring into action. (You can be assured of confidentiality).  There is also a box for you to pop any requests in, available on Sundays at our 10am service.

Organ Favourites played by John Dodgshun: 2 pm Sunday 26th July at St Andrew’s at Rangi Ruru, 16 Merivale Lane.  Including, ‘In a Monastery Garden’ and ‘Sailor’s Hornpipe’.  Gold coin koha – donations received will go to the Christchurch City Mission.

Steady As You Go:  Our falls prevention classes (held weekly on Monday at 2pm, during term time) begin again July 20th.  A great way to improve balance and mobility through gentle movements.  If you would like to ‘come and see’ what is involved you are very welcome to come any Monday.  $2 per session.  Enquiries to Tracey at Papanui office or to Margaret Harvey.

Women’s Fellowship Midwinter Lunch:  You are warmly invited to a Potluck lunch on Saturday 25 July at 1200 at Catherine’s house. Come and enjoy some Soup and a catch-up. Please bring a small plate of finger food to share. RSVP if you can, to Catherine M.

Part Time Paid Position Available ‘Regional Advisor role’:  Are you a people person, with some administration skills, who is comfortable connecting with small groups of people?  Do you have a passion to support teams where kids are learning some great life skills, presented from a biblical perspective?  Do you have a spare 10 hours a week?  Do you like flexible working hours?  If this sounds a bit like you, then you might be the person to join the Launchpad Canterbury team to help train and support our volunteers presenting in schools around the Canterbury Region.  For a full job description, or even to just find out more info, get in touch with Rachael who will be happy to have a chat with you:

From our Parish Council:

“A reminder – even although there are no active cases of COVID-19 in the community – we have been asked by the Ministry of Health to keep a personal record of the places we go and when. Today please add Village Church (St Andrew’s College Chapel) – July 19th. Thank you.”

The Village parish council held our monthly meeting at Papanui on Tuesday 14th July 2020.

Plans are well underway to begin the new services this coming week (Thursday at Papanui and Sunday at Bryndwr) and we would welcome some more volunteers to help make these a success.

We are working to ensure that the sound systems and screens at both Papanui and Bryndwr are sufficient to our needs – hopefully we’ll have a bigger screen and even sound distribution soon!

The meetings (held July 9th and 15th) regarding the changes to our worship life have gone well and people were able to gain more insight into how the decision was made and the reasoning behind it as well as being able to explore some practical concerns as well. There will be more information communicated in the upcoming Village News and via an email.

The lockdown delayed the beginning of a few of the activities in our buildings but we look forward to these returning to normal in term three.

This month we had Silvia Purdie come to speak to us in her role as A Rocha Christchurch coordinator about the vision of the Eco Church Network. We have now joined the Eco Church NZ Network which provides us with information and support to become a more sustainable church. This fits nicely with our Sustainability Policy.

We have set a date for our Annual General Meeting as 18th October 2020. It will take place as usual after the service at Bryndwr.
