Burnside Primary School are very excited to announce that we are one of four schools to be
awarded a ‘TREEmendous’ grant of $10,000 for the creation of outdoor learning spaces at our school! ‘TREEmendous’ teaches children about the importance of caring for the environment through the development of amazing outdoor classrooms for teachers and students to reconnect with nature. We are going to be planting 700 native trees to expand our Native Garden area. This area is going to be a key learning space where students will be able to explore, learn, play and experience nature. All trees were especially chosen as they were the original species that were growing in the Burnside area. We would like to invite all of the Burnside Primary community to a special celebration day where we will be planting trees, mulching and enjoying each other’s company.
Our TREEmendous celebration day is Saturday the 8th of August. We welcome you to join us in the hall for coffee, tea, hot chocolate and a chat from 8:30am. Morning tea will be provided and a sausage sizzle lunch for all volunteers. We aim to be finished by 12:30. Please bring a spade as there are a lot of trees to be planted! Looking forward to seeing you all then!
