Quiz Night – Friday 16 October at The Village Papanui.  More details to follow, but please keep this date free and tell your friends!

Repair!  Reuse!  Our first ever Repair Café will be on our community market day, Saturday 3 October from 9.30am at The Village Bryndwr.  Tell your neighbours, young families and anyone needing free fix-it help, to come along and speak to one of our volunteers!  On hand will be:  Bishopdale Men’s Shed, a home maintenance DIY-er, clothing machinist and generalists who love gluing, using tools and fixing things!  BYO small items for repair, advice and practical help.  No guarantees we can fix it, but we will try!  On offer are:  small sewing alterations and hemming – home maintenance advice – try your hand at a woodwork project (suitable for older kids) – woodwork tops – broken jewellery fixed – miscellaneous items glued, screwed or nailed!  (note electrical items can only be repaired by a registered electrician).

Kirkin’ of the Tartan:  will be at our 10am Service at The Village Bryndwr, Sunday 11 October.

The Village Prayer Team:            If you or someone you know would benefit from having some prayer support then please feel free to send your requests to prayer@villagechurch.nz and the team will spring into action. (You can be assured of confidentiality).  There is also a box for you to pop any requests in available at each Service (Sunday and Thursday).

Spiritual Recovery:  11 October from 4.00 to 5.30pm at The Village Papanui.  When people in our faith communities hurt us by their behaviour or attitudes, it can leave emotional scars.  This gathering time offers a safe space to acknowledge these hurts and take steps to “live freely and lightly” by (re)connecting with God.  Koha appreciated.  Contact Megan B. for more information.

The Annual General Meeting will be held on 18 October 2020. I would like to call for nominations to parish council at this time. Nominations must be received by 4 October. Please see Lisa M. for a form, or email lisa@villagechurch.nz  for more information.

Roster October to December:  Please let us know if you haven’t received a copy of the new roster which has now been distributed. Ph Deirdre or Tracey at the offices.  Thank you.

The Village Market:  a reminder that our next Market is Saturday October 3, from 9.30am.  We will have all our usual sales tables (donations of goods for selling gladly received), along with the clothing shop and the coffee (for a koha) – plus the first Repair Café.

A reminder of the two week School Holiday break taken by many of our regular activities – term three ends Friday 25 September and term four begins Monday 12 October.

Combined Art Exhibition:  Save the date – Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December at The Village Papanui – we are very pleased to be hosting a joint exhibition of work by the people who attend the various groups in the Creative Nest and the 27 children who attend art classes run by one of our Community Centre partners.  Paintings, written work and crafts.  More details to come in November.
