Friday 16 October at The Village Papanui, starting at 6pm. Teams of no more than six can be arranged ahead or made up on the night. Please don’t be put off coming if you don’t have a team arranged in advance! A koha to help with the costs of the pizza tea would be appreciated, we envisage that $8 a head would cover this. Please let Tracey or Deirdre know if you, or anyone in your team, has any dietary requirements. There will be prizes and a quilt to be raffled. Please bring your friends!
Spiritual Recovery – 11 October: from 4.00 to 5.30pm at The Village Papanui. When people in our faith communities hurt us by their behaviour or attitudes, it can leave emotional scars. This gathering time offers a safe space to acknowledge these hurts and take steps to “live freely and lightly” by (re)connecting with God. Koha appreciated. Contact Megan B. for more information.
The Village Annual Meeting will be held on 18 October 2020. Nominations for positions on the parish council must be received by today, 4 October. Please see Lisa M. for a form, or contact the office for more information.
Copies of the 2020 Annual Report are now available for those who would like to read it before the Annual Meeting next Sunday. Pick one up after church at Bryndwr today, or from either office (or phone to have a copy emailed).
Apologies for the Annual Meeting can be emailed or rung through to either Deirdre or Tracey, or to Lisa M. our Parish Clerk. Thank you.
The Village Prayer Team: If you or someone you know would benefit from having some prayer support then please feel free to send your requests to firstname.lastname@example.org and the team will spring into action. (You can be assured of confidentiality). There is also a box for you to pop any requests in, available on Sundays at our 10am service.
Roster October to December: Please let us know if you haven’t received a copy of the new roster which has now been distributed. Phone Deirdre or Tracey at the offices. Thank you.
Food donations for Burnside Primary School families in need can be brought to Bryndwr or Papanui offices – or placed in the basket at Bryndwr each Sunday at 10am. Thank you to those who were able to contribute in term 3. Especially needed at this time are: breakfast cereal, tins of fruit, spaghetti and baked beans, biscuits, tea, coffee, pasta and rice. Also appreciated are soap, toothpaste, laundry powder and general cleaning products, shampoo and dishwashing liquid. Thank you for your support.
Combined Art Exhibition: Save the date – Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December at The Village Papanui – we are very pleased to be hosting a joint exhibition of work by the people who attend the various groups in the Creative Nest and the 27 children who attend art classes run by one of our Community Centre partners. Paintings, written work and crafts. More details to come in November.
‘Begin Again with Bill’: The social dance sessions run by Bill Worley are resuming from Sunday 11 October. They will be held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, 1:30pm-4:30pm at The Village, Papanui.
Social Badminton: Wednesday mornings at The Village Papanui, 9.45 to 11.30am.
Village Leisure Group: Looking for a group of folk who like a bit of banter with their brew?
Look no further than … “The Village Leisure Group”. Held at the Village Community Centre, corner Ilam and Aorangi Roads. 1-3pm, 1st Wednesday of the month. Games, quizzes, crafts, speakers, outings and of course, afternoon tea! Come along and join a fantastic group of ‘Young at Hearts’.
