Non-perishable food donations for Burnside Primary School – and for the Christchurch City Mission – can be brought to Bryndwr or Papanui offices – or placed in the basket at Bryndwr each Sunday at 10am. Suggestions: breakfast cereal, tins of fruit, spaghetti and baked beans, biscuits, tea, coffee, pasta and rice. Also appreciated are soap, toothpaste, laundry powder and general cleaning products, shampoo and dishwashing liquid. Thank you for your support.
The Village Market: a reminder that our next Market is Saturday December 6, from 9.30am. We will have all our usual sales tables (donations of goods for selling gladly received), along with the clothing shop and the coffee (for a koha).
Village Directory 2021 will soon be printed. Please let Tracey know of any changes to your contact information (address, cell or home phone and email) Ph 352 6197 or email tracey@villagechurch.nz This directory is only made available to church members.
Rental request – 2 bedrooms: we have received a request from a mother (and teenage daughter) who are moving to Christchurch and need to find a home to rent. They are looking for a one or two bedroom flat, or a three bedroom home (and they would have either a professional working person or a student living with them). Required from late December or early January. References available including one from the Minister of their Presbyterian Church. They would enjoy being in a home with a garden to look after. Contact Tracey at the Papanui office for further details.
First Thursday Social Hour: Join us for a fun and relaxed hour every first Thursday of the month. Filled with great conversations and good banter! All welcome ~ BYO drinks ~ nibbles are provided. Held at the Village Bryndwr in the Common from 5.00 to 6.00pm – next gathering is 3 December.
The Village News: the last edition for 2020 is currently being compiled ready for distribution in the next few weeks. This will be accompanied by the 2021 Directory and a CWS envelope for those who wish to take the opportunity to give to their work. If you have anything you would like to contribute to this edition of The Village News please email Anne (anne@villagechurch.nz) as soon as possible.
Leisure Group: Our next get together is Wednesday 2 December, 1.00pm at The Village Bryndwr. A warm welcome is extended to anyone who would like to join us for afternoon tea and an activity. Contact Mary Jo for more information.
Info session for Kainga Ora: Kainga Ora is looking to build 34 new homes on Clyde Road – Aorangi Road – Bevin Place in Bryndwr. A mix of 1 to 5 bedrooms. If you are keen to know more about what is planned, there are two opportunities to come to an info session at the Village Bryndwr:- pop in any time during the session to speak with someone, no appointment needed.
Thursday 26 Nov, 12 noon to 6pm, Friday 27 Nov, 11am to 3pm.
News from the Creative Nest: On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December the Nest writing, painting and craft groups are joining with Sharon’s Art Studio (children attending art classes) to celebrate in an exhibition ‘Creativity and Community’. We would love you to come and see something of the work all our creative groups have produced throughout the year. The official opening is 10.30am on Saturday but you are welcome any time during Saturday and Sunday 10.30am – 4.30pm. The works are not for sale but there will be cards and bookmarks produced by the artists for sale, with all proceeds going to a charity for children. Do come and be inspired!
Help Needed! Our Bryndwr Thursday morning pre-school music group needs someone to help lead the songs and/or help with set-up/morning tea next year. You can speak to Lesley Compton to learn more about what’s involved. We need to start planning for 2021 NOW, so please let Tracey or Deirdre know of your interest by Friday 27 November.
