Results of the recent Congregational Vote:  We are very pleased to report on the vote taken for the Congregations of The Village and St Luke’s regarding incorporation – Village / 94% yes.  St Luke’s / 96% yes.   We will now work with Presbytery on the next steps towards official incorporation.

Giving to The Village:  Some wonderful things happen through The Village, and people giving financially is an important way to support both our church activities and the initiatives we run to serve our communities.  An offering is made available during our Sunday worship but you are also welcome to give by automatic payment or envelope which means you can claim a tax credit of 33% for your donation.  Please contact Keren R. or Donella D. for more information.

Thursday hour: byo drinks, nibbles provided.  Come and enjoy a social hour at the Village Bryndwr 5-6pm each first Thursday of the month.

Church Donations:  A reminder that March 31 is the end of the financial tax year and a time to think about any additional giving we might make to the church, which will result in a donations tax credit of 33 cents in the dollar from IRD.

Access to the Village Church at Papanui will be restricted to in / out from Papanui Road only – for approximately two months Frank Street will be closed (Mon-Fri 7am-6pm) to all traffic for replacement of sewer pipes.  On-street parking will be very restricted, but there could be some available in Wyndham Street which is a couple of minutes’ walk away.  This work begins Monday 22nd March.

Daylight Savings ends next weekend:  Sunday 4 April 2021 is the end of daylight savings when our clocks go back one hour.

Alpine Presbytery, PressGo and Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership welcome you to the beautiful alpine village of Hanmer Springs, in North Canterbury. Here we will “gather around the campfire” and share stories of new ways of being, and wonder together where God may be leading us.

In the 6th Century, Columba arrived on the Island of Iona on a “coracle.”  A coracle is a small boat, and for some Celtic missionaries they would simply go where the tide took them.

Pilgrim, voyager, explorer, pioneer – all words that describe a sense of “finding our way” with no fixed idea of what the future may look like.

Maybe these words describe you or someone you know?  Maybe you have questions about church, mission, the future – wondering about what could be, and carrying some questions about what is now – if so join us in Hanmer Springs – Friday 30 April – Sunday 2 May.

For more info visit – https://alpinepresbytery.org/coracle/ – or talk to Dan. We already have one or two going from The Village but it would be great to have a few more!
