Book Stall next Sunday: Our monthly after church book stall happens on Sunday 11th April. We welcome donations of books of fiction and non-fiction, children’s and adults’ books.
The monthly Village Market at Bryndwr: Saturday morning, April 10th – we hope to see you there! After being unable to attend last time, this month we expect to have MP Sarah Pallett coming to chat with people.
Village Leisure Group: Our next get together is Wednesday April 7 at the Village Bryndwr. 1-3pm. Contact Mary Jo Chase for details or just come along and enjoy afternoon tea and a social time.
Parking at the Village Papanui is a little more difficult than usual for some of our weekday morning activities – if you don’t have things to carry, and would enjoy a (very!) short walk, there is 2-hour parking in Wyndham Street (one block along from Frank Street, going towards Northlands Mall).
Bryndwr Community Garden AGM: The Bryndwr Community Garden is having its 2021 Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 14 April, 7pm at The Village Bryndwr Church. We are meeting in the Annexe (where we usually meet), which is most easily accessed by the side door. It would be great if you could come along and please feel free to invite anyone to the AGM who you think might be interested in being part of the community garden. If you wish to be part of the committee, please come along or let us know if you wish to be nominated. Drinks and snacks will be provided. The agenda, executive report, position description and previous minutes will be available as paper copies on the day of the meeting.
Women’s Fellowship Morning Tea Cuppa: Let’s meet for a cuppa and catch up before too many more months zoom by. All women are invited to share in morning tea at Simo’s cafe, 399 Ilam road, Friday 16 April at 10.30. RSVP not necessary… you can just turn up. Any enquires or if transport is required, please contact Catherine. Thank you.
Alpine Presbytery, PressGo and Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership welcome you to the beautiful alpine village of Hanmer Springs, in North Canterbury. Here we will “gather around the campfire” and share stories of new ways of being, and wonder together where God may be leading us.
In the 6th Century, Columba arrived on the Island of Iona on a “coracle.” A coracle is a small boat, and for some Celtic missionaries they would simply go where the tide took them.
Pilgrim, voyager, explorer, pioneer – all words that describe a sense of “finding our way” with no fixed idea of what the future may look like.
Maybe these words describe you or someone you know? Maybe you have questions about church, mission, the future – wondering about what could be, and carrying some questions about what is now – if so join us in Hanmer Springs –Friday 30 April – Sunday 2 May.
For more info visit – https://alpinepresbytery.org/coracle/ – or talk to Dan. We already have one or two going from The Village but it would be great to have a few more!
Westpac bank at Papanui has permanently closed. The closest branch for those in the Papanui area is now Merivale.
Foot Clinics: For those booked in a reminder that our next clinics are Thursday 8 and Friday 9 April. If you need to check whether you are booked in please phone Deirdre at the Bryndwr office.
You’re invited to the launch of Arvida Good Friends: Join Bill McDonald, Arvida CEO, and the Hon Margaret Austin CNZM as they introduce you to a ground-breaking concept in community connection.
Enjoy music performed by the CSO and hospitality from Natter Café. Be the first to see inside Arvida Good Friends at Park Lane, a vibrant hub to support older New Zealanders living well. 5.00-7.00pm 15 April 2021 – 47 Whiteleigh Avenue, Addington.
