The Methodist Women’s Fellowship have extended an invitation to the ladies of our parish to an ecumenical afternoon to hear Christine Lloyd speak.  Christine is a dental nurse who has worked on Mercy Ships in Africa.  Wednesday 1 September at 2pm at Christchurch North Methodist, Chapel Street Papanui.

Newcomers event – on Friday August 20, from 6pm, we will be holding a pot-luck shared meal at our Papanui site, for anyone who has made their way into The Village since September 2018, when we last had one of these events.  We will endeavour to make contact with the people in this category but if by some awful chance we miss anyone, please do make yourself known and feel welcome to join in.  It’s a great way to meet a few more people in a relaxed and fun environment.  Please contact Anne Stewart if you need any further information.

Games evening – The Village invites you and your family/friends to an ‘Olympic themed’ games evening on Friday August 27 at the Bryndwr site.  We can even have spectators and no social distancing (hope that’s not speaking too soon!).  So, keep this date free and more detail will emerge next week.

Tata School Vanuatu fundraiser – Soap now available for $2 bar: The Ecostore soap bars are available from Papanui and Bryndwr offices, from the Clothing Store and from the Village Market 7 August.  Also, after Worship each Sunday – until sold out.  Two scents on offer, ‘Lemongrass’ and ‘Grapefruit and Mint’.  Friends and family are welcome to buy too – thank you for your support as we fundraise to help rebuild Tata School after the devastation the 2020 cyclone caused in Vanuatu.

Giving to The Village:  Some wonderful things happen through The Village, and people giving financially is an important way to support both our church activities and the initiatives we run to serve our communities.  An offering is made available during our Sunday worship but you are also welcome to give by automatic payment or envelope which means you can claim a tax credit of 33% for your donation.  Please contact Keren Ritchie or Donella Duff for more information.

Friendly Circle Lunch: Tuesday 10 August at midday – all welcome!  Ph Jennifer or Pat to rsvp for catering purposes.
