The Village Advent Feast: Due to ongoing Covid concerns, unfortunately the Advent Feast is cancelled.  We will now aim to hold this during Autumn 2022.

The ‘Big Quilt’ Raffle: Our final fundraiser for the year for Tata School is a raffle – tickets are $2 each or 3 tickets for $5 and available from Bryndwr and Papanui offices.  First prize is a fabulous quilt, based on ‘From the Heart’.  Second prize is a lovely hand crafted felt bag.  Drawn 7 November.

Art Exhibition: The Creative Nest and Sharon’s Art Studio extend a warm welcome to an exhibition of painting, writing and craft at The Village Papanui.  Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 November 10.30am to 4.30pm.  Free entry, koha appreciated and all donations will go to our Tata School fundraiser.  Come and be inspired, enthralled, amazed at the creativity of a wide range of ages and abilities.

Sermon and Sermon & Notices by email:  Now that we are able to meet for Worship each Sunday at the Village Bryndwr, we have resumed our weekly email to those who are on our lists.  If you are interested in receiving either the Sermon, or the Sermon and notices, during the week following the Sunday service, please let Tracey at the Papanui office know. 

Volunteers Needed for Senior Day Programmes Presbyterian Support operates Day programmes for older people in the Riccarton and Linwood areas. These programmes provide friendship, entertainment, activities and a midday meal for older people. The Volunteers assist at the Day Programmes and help with the programme which includes assisting with the activities and kitchen duties. There are also roles for Volunteers to assist on the Mini Vans to take clients to and from the programme.  For more information about volunteering at our Day Programmes, please phone Roni Jordan on 03 261 2889

Northgate Community Services Trust is in need of helpers from 9:20am – 12:15pm for their Foot Clinic, held fortnightly at Northcity Church Papanui.  The clinic dates are 5 & 19 November, 3 & 10 December. To volunteer, contact Andre on 0212678032 or email

Some helpful tips re mask wearing:

 – If you sew a button to each end of a strip of cloth or ribbon, you can hook the ear loops over those and stretch it round the back of your head instead of over your ears.

– If you have masks with long ties, you can tie the lower ones around the back of your neck, and the upper ones across the top (surgeon style). You can also cut the elastic and add longer strings.

– If you have the Barrel of Monkeys game, the monkeys are excellent for hooking around the ear loops and fastening around the back of your head. This is good when the elastic stretches a bit too.
