The Village Directory for 2022 will be printed during the first quarter of next year. This will give us time to complete the alterations required which continue to come through from the updated details forms which are being submitted. Thank you to everyone who has sent them through, and if it’s still on your ‘to do’ list, feel free to do that early next year.
THANK YOU! – Many of you volunteer a lot of hours of your time throughout the year to help keep The Village ticking over and continuing to be able to be a well-functioning church family with a strong presence in our communities. The church has always existed as a largely volunteer organisation, this is a good thing and it should stay that way! So, to all of you who have volunteered in small or big ways this year, THANK YOU! – Dan & Anne.
The Village Presbyterian Church Parish Council December Report:
The final meeting of the Parish Council for 2021 was held on Tuesday 14th December in The Nest at Papanui.
Judith Souness provided the devotion taken from ‘No Strange Land’ by Eddie Askew. Judith reflected on the lead up to Christmas as a season with its own momentum. She suggested that the Nativity could be looked at from a different point of view as a trip into the unknown, a situation that we all find ourselves in as we experience the conditions imposed by the COVID pandemic.
The following reports from the various teams were tabled and accepted:
• Ministers’ Report
• Minister’s Development Plan
• The Village, Vision, Purpose, Mission, Strategy Tactic
• Community Centre
• Property Maintenance
• Report – Redwood Manse
• Finance Reports
Children’s Ministry Role: Gene is finishing up the Children’s part of her role at Christmas, moving to focus solely on Youth Group. The Children’s Ministry component of the position is currently being advertised.
Vision, Purpose, Mission, Strategy, Tactics: Dan has been doing some preliminary work on refreshing of our mission document. The Parish Council will consider these ideas in the new year and how the refined document will be useful in our life as we work towards the ‘networked’ model, or indeed work towards truly enabling The Village as ‘a village’.
The processes and practices that have been established and implemented to address the COVID situation at The Village appear to have worked satisfactorily so far. A close watch will be maintained on the further developments. It was suggested and agreed that extra QR codes be positioned at the entrances to buildings to streamline entry at busy times.
