The Village Presbyterian Church Parish Council, November update:

The November meeting of the Parish Council was held on Tuesday 8th October in The Nest at Papanui.

Liam Boardman shared the devotion. He talked about the words we use and how they influence what we do and how we think. Referring to John: “In the beginning was the word….” Liam reflected on the words we use to describe God.

The monthly financial accounts were presented and passed.  Judith reported on the past month’s accounts and noted the following points:

•  Offerings slightly exceeded budget for the month of September, but are less than budgeted for the year to date.

•  While we are still to receive the presbytery grant towards the intern payment, the remainder of our income is fairly consistent with our budget for the year.

•  The unbudgeted costs for the sale of Valerie Place will be reimbursed.

•  Reserves have been updated. The Presbyterian Investment Fund Property Account now includes funds from the sale of Valerie Place.

•  Judith is to investigate the viability of outsourcing the wages process.

Reports were received from the Ministry Team, the Community Centre, Children’s Ministry, and Property (Manses).

Matters Arising from the Manse Report:

Approval was sought and agreed upon regarding the Truman Road Manse:

•  The purchase and installation of a suitable heat pump for the living room

•  Replacement of the range hob

•  Replacement of the back door and suitable draught stops for exterior doors

•  Approval to proceed with repair work in the upstairs bathroom and painting of window sills.

General Matters:

•  There was a discussion of the need to replace Justin M. in his role as Safety Officer.

•  The Parish Profile:  Parish Councillors considered a series of questions about key points required for the compilation of this document.
