You are invited to a morning tea in acknowledgement of Margaret Harvey and her dedication to the Creative Nest. 11am in the lounge at Papanui, on Tuesday 13th May. Savouries and cakes provided; the coffee machine will be in full swing
A chance for us to gather and acknowledge Margaret and her efforts in her role of overseeing the Creative Nest space over the years. Margaret has since finished in this role, however, remains connected to some of the groups that use the Nest space. Margaret has long been a key figure in helping establish the Creative Nest as a community connection point for creatives in our community. As she redirects her energy towards her own creative expression, we wish to gather for a simple morning tea to honour her efforts.
Cheese Rolls: If you’re feeling the cold, we suggest a lunch of a cup of soup and cheese roll will warm you. We are again making cheese rolls as a fund-raising effort for the parish on Saturday 14 June. These are priced at $15 dozen, or $8 for 6.
A coffee voucher will be given to the person with the largest order, so ask around your family & friends, and place your orders at either Bryndwr or Papanui by the 8th June. Anyone who is available to help with the making, please note that on the order form with your order. Thanks. Any queries to Lesley, Kath, or Christine A.
May/June Birthday Celebration: We are wondering if there is someone who would like to host this. The date and time are up to the host. We will give you the list of people who have birthdays and have shown a desire to attend a celebration.
So far this year there have been lovely occasions either an evening meal or a lunchtime one so entirely up to the host. Please see Kath or Lesley if you feel this is something you would like to do. Our thanks. Kath and Lesley
Baking for Students: First semester exams are looming and we can show care and support for students on study leave at Rochester and Rutherford Hall with donations of baking. Sandra Wright-Taylor is coordinating this and donations of baking need to be left at Bryndwr on Tuesday 3rd June.

Where: Village Church in Bryndwr, Christchurch, and online
When: Sunday 18 May, 7pm -8.30pm
Join the event in person or online. RSVP via the form below.
Canterbury holds the majority of freshwater in Aotearoa, but this public resource is significantly degraded because of intensive agriculture. Excess nitrogen wasted from farming systems accumulates in freshwater and groundwater, polluting drinking water supplies and harming aquatic life.
The Environmental Law Initiative is preparing for two significant High Court hearings in May, challenging Environment Canterbury (ECan) over decisions that permit nitrate pollution in the region’s freshwater systems. Meanwhile, the Government is intent on weakening the bottom lines for water quality and has plans to replace the Resource Management Act.
This is a rallying moment; decisions made now should protect and restore the health of our waterways for generations to come.
Come and join a public talk emceed by the legendary freshwater ecologist Dr Mike Joy.
You’ll hear from the ELI team at the heart of the legal action against ECan, Anna Sintenie, and Lottie Boardman.
Join the event in-person or online. RSVP via the form.
