On Tuesday November 7 at 1.30pm we will have the funeral service for Rae Hobbs at the Village Papanui. Rae was a parishioner of the Village Church and the former St Giles Church for many years and will be missed by many of us. We extend our condolences to her family and friends.
Notice of a Congregational Meeting
The Parish Council would like to call a congregational meeting for Sunday, 12th November following the morning service at Bryndwr. The purpose of the meeting is to elect 4 parish members to the Ministry Settlement Board (MSB) being set up to arrange ministry for the role in our new mission initiative at Papanui. Nominations for these are now called for! Please pass any nominations on to Joy Kingsbury-Aitken.
At our meeting in July we agreed to, depending on funding, ask that Presbytery form a MSB. As we have received confirmation of funding being available, we now move to start this part of the process.
The MSB is made up of a Convenor plus one other as Presbytery appointments, 4 members of the parish, and two members of the Parish Council. We have communicated to Presbytery that we would like the MSB established and they are happy to proceed.

What a great morning we had at the Village Church last week. We think those of us who had minimal input (a salad, in our case!) would like to thank those who put in so much time in the preparation and delivery of the various happenings for all the hard work that went into it both upfront and behind the scenes. The rugby result wasn’t what we wanted but at least there were plenty of people to commiserate with, and the bagels and coffee made it all seem not so bad! The themed interactive service allowed people to mix and share memories, and the feast was indeed a feast – especially the pumpkin pies! Thank you all so much. Nick & Kathleen A.
Tracey is back in the Papanui Office, currently working reduced hours while she manages the recovery of her arm. If you are needing to pop in and see her, please call first, to make sure she is there!
