The Village at Redwood: At the end of 2010, the Minister of many years left St Lukes Presbyterian Church at Redwood, to pursue new opportunities. (It was also fair to say that the Parish Council had advised the Minister that another 12 months of Ministry was all that could be afforded). Between 2010 and 2015 the Parish operated without a Minister. In 2015 the Parish made an agreement with the newly formed Village Presbyterian Church comprising St Giles Papanui and St Stephens Bryndwr, for the provision of half time Ministry. This helped to keep the Parish functioning on a daily basis with the assistance of our own leadership team. In 2021 the Parish voted unanimously to integrate The Parish of St Lukes into The Village Church with St Lukes to be known as The Village Redwood.
One of the key points of the agreement was that the congregation at Redwood would join the Village Church Sunday Worship which is held at Bryndwr every Sunday at 10am, providing the opportunity to be part of a much larger congregation as well as the participation in many activities held weekly.
We would like to let you know that the last Sunday service at Redwood will be held on August 27th commencing at 10am. We wish to extend an invitation to you to attend this special service of celebration and thanksgiving for all that has been at St Lukes over the years. The service will be followed by a late morning tea, perhaps you might call it early lunch. Two musical opportunities on Sunday 27th August:-
The first is “French Romantic Organ Music” played by John Dodgshun at St Andrew’s at Rangi Ruru at 2pm.
Music by: Boellmann, Lefebure-Wely, Franck, Guilmant & Chauvet.
Programmes $5.00, at the door. Students free.
The second is “Jazzmatazz” Afternoon Delight from 4-5pm, at St. Silas Anglican Church, Main North Road, Redwood. An hour of jazz (choir) followed by a cup of tea or coffee. An all ages event.
