AGM 6 Oct. after Worship – Please join us at the conclusion of the 10am Service, for the Annual Meeting of The Village Presbyterian Church.
Kirkin’ of the Tartan:
Sunday October 13, 10am, The Village, Bryndwr. Please wear (or bring) your tartan. Members of The Canterbury Scottish Heritage Council will join us for the Service.
Most of us know and love the New Zealand songs written by Shirley Murray. Author Anne Manchester has written Shirley Murray’s biography, Peace is Her Song: the life and legacy of Shirley Erena Murray, which will have a special launch at Knox Church Centre Hall on 20 October at 5pm. This will be a musical celebration of Shirley’s life and gifts. Books will be on sale for $50.00.
Playful Generations – If anyone has any spare bits and bobs lying around in the shed that we can use for a toddler busy board we would appreciate them! Things like latches, switches, hinges, door stops, PVC pipe or anything a toddler would find interesting (and safe for them to play with) that we can attach to a piece of plywood. If possible, delivery to the Village Papanui on a Monday or Thursday, otherwise to the Village Bryndwr, where Layka can pick them up. Thank you.

The Members of Parish Council are pleased to announce that Luke Blackbeard has been invited to preach for a call to The Village Presbyterian Church on the 20th of October at our Bryndwr building. All members are encouraged to attend this service to hear Luke.
Then after a few days of prayerful consideration, a congregational meeting will be held at The Village, Papanui, on Thursday 24th October (immediately after the conclusion of the 11.30am service) and at The Village, Bryndwr on 27th of October (immediately after the conclusion of the 10am service), for members to vote on whether to call Luke to the parish as a minister. Should we decide to do so, this would be Luke’s first parish. (The Village Presbyterian Church has an established pattern of calling new ministers to serve the parish – Brian Hardie and Sylvia Miller-Hardie, Anne Stewart, Dan Spragg and Josh Olds – which has worked well for them and for us.) Luke is married and they have two children. Prior to commencing his training for ministry, Luke was the Chief Financial Officer for the Gore District Council.
To assist members with their decision making, Luke has permitted us to circulate his Intern Information Form (curriculum vitae). If you would like a copy of this (if you don’t have email) please contact Tracey at the Papanui office phone 352 6197 (and leave a message).
Members are requested to pray for God’s guidance as we collectively make this important decision.
